Customise this site

You can make this site easier to use

If you are using a desktop computer you can apply some of the suggestions on this page to change the way you use this site. What changes can you make?

Use the Accessibility Navbar

When you press the tab key on your keyboard you'll see some 'quick links' at the top of the page; these are collectively known as the Accessibility Navbar. Here's an explanation of each:

  • Content - this is an internal link which moves the cursor (or point of focus) to the content by jumping past the navigational links
  • Accessibility - this is the link to this page. If you need to change the layout of the site or choose / update your access keys, then select link for 'Accessibility'
  • Site Map - if you're lost and need to find a page, try the site map

Switch between one of three style sheets

  1. Small screen style sheet - this option simplifies the way the page is displayed by stripping out most of the styling and therefore makes it suitable for the small screens of handheld devices like mobile telephones and PDAs. You can view the simplified version with any browser... go ahead and try!
  2. Low Vision style sheet - this option will invert the default stylings while increasing the default font-size too. The provides visitors with vision disabilities can easily access and understand the content of the site
  3. Default style sheet -this is the default styling of the page. So, if you're using one of the most common desktop browsers you will automatically be shown the 'Default' style sheet option

Change Text Size

You can adjust the size of the text throughout any accessible site by using your browser or keyboard and mouse. For example if you use the Firefox or Internet Explorer browsers, you can adjust text size by going to View > Text Size and making your desired choice. Alternatively, if you have a mouse with a scroll-wheel you can press your control key (Ctrl) and move the scroll-wheel back-and-forth to change the text size.

Choose your own keyboard shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts are known as Access Keys and can be operated by holding down the Alt key and pressing your chosen keyboard shortcut. Set your own keyboard shortcuts using the form below.
